Fund the Mission

Sponsored By

Help the American Cancer Society "Fund the Mission" by directly allocating funds to the Community Transportation Grant Program in Louisiana, general cancer research or pediatric cancer research.

About the American Cancer Society:
At the American Cancer Society, we're on a mission to free the world from cancer. Last year alone, the Society provided over 23,000 services to cancer patients and families from Louisiana; 600 services alone in Lafayette. Our 2020 efforts in Lafayette resulted in more than $20,000 raised in support of local paid transportation grants and general cancer research.

Helping patients with access to care:
Access to care, specifically transportation, continues to be a burden on many local patients facing treatment. Through our "Fund the Mission" initiative, donors have the opportunity to allocate contributions 100% to funding a Community Transportation Grant Program. All dollars pledged through this initiative will be available via application for cancer centers in our local communities, such as Lafayette.

Fund life-saving research:
Next to the Federal Government, the Society is the largest funder of cancer research.
In fact, we are currently funding over $410 million in research grants. You can help grow those efforts by pledging a donation that will be allocated 100% to cancer research.

Fund life-saving Pediatric Cancer research:
After accidents, cancer is the second leading cause of death in children ages 1 to 14. While major treatment advances in recent decades has led to 84% of children with cancer now surviving 5 years or more, survival rates can vary a great deal depending on the type of cancer and other factors. Pediatric cancer research remains one of the most underfunded entities in the nation due to its rarity but that does not lessen the immediate need for more funding to help the children and families currently fighting.

Become a "Fund the Mission" Donor:
Pledge any amount: Donors are encouraged to pledge at the amount of their choice that is allocated 100% to programs + services provided by the American Cancer Society, such as the community transportation grant program for patients receiving treatment in Louisiana, general cancer research or pediatric cancer research. As there are no sponsorship amenities provided for "Fund the Mission" donations, it is 100% tax deductible.
Pledge a minimum of $1,000: Pledge a minimum of $1,000 by August 16th and be verbally recognized during the "Fund the Mission" segment of the live event/broadcast.

Commit by August 16th: Any donors who commit to "Fund the Mission" by August 16th will be listed in the event program.

Registration closes: Friday, December 31, 2021
